On Friday, a pro-abortion Ohio activist was sentenced to two years of probation and a $2,000 fine with no prison time for intentionally vandalizing a pregnancy center that focuses on the health of the mother and child.

Whitney Durant, 20, of Worthington, Ohio, who goes by the alias "Soren Monroe," pleaded guilty to one count of intentionally damaging a reproductive health care clinic in Bowling Green, Ohio on April 15, 2023, which is in violation of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE Act).

Durant will see no prison time as a result of the crime. The FACE Act has also been used against pro-life activists protesting outside abortion clinics. Recently several were convicted under the act after praying outside an abortion clinic in Washington DC and face up to 11 years of prison depending on the outcome of the sentence.

The FACE Act states that it brings "ciminal penalites for certain violent, threatening, obstructive and destructive conduct that is intended to injure, intimidate or interfere with persons seeking to obtain or provide reproductive health services."

Court documents state that Durant defaced the HerChoice clinic building with spray paint and wrote the words "liars," "fake clinic," "abort God," "fund abortion," and "Jane's revenge."

Jane's Revenge is a group of radical pro-abortion militants who are often affiliated with Antifa and have been responsible for carrying out violent attacks on Christian-based pregnancy centers and pro-life facilities. Durant also made a GoFundMe for legal fees.

Durant, who uses they/she/he/ve pronouns and describes herself on social media as a communist who is "trying to spread the gay agenda," was a student at Bowling Green State University during the time of the property destruction.

Durant was sentenced by Magistrate Judge Darrell A. Clay and the case was investigated by the FBI Cleveland Field Office, Toledo Resident Agency, and the Bowling Green Police Department. Those who prosecuted the case include Assistant US Attorney Angelita Cruz Bridges and Paul Dobson, who is the Wood County Prosecutor and Special Assistant US Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.

Rebecca C. Lutzko, US Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, said in a statement: "The United States Attorney’s Office is committed to neutrally enforcing federal laws that protect uninterrupted access to all clinics providing reproductive health services, whether those clinics provide women with options that include abortion care or whether they solely encourage women to consider non-abortion alternatives."

"This prosecution and sentence demonstrate that we will not tolerate efforts to impede patients' access to the reproductive health care of their choice by someone who intentionally defaces or otherwise damages a clinic providing such services. The First Amendment protects peaceful protests, not blatant vandalism," she said.
